The aim of the Department of Intercultural Communication is to educate students to consider the cultural, political, economic and environmental aspects of the issues they study, and to equip them with good communication skills, so that they will become citizens able to contribute to the solution of the complex problems facing us in this rapidly globalizing era. As a means to that goal, they will deal with such broad questions as what a global society should look like, and how cross-cultural understanding and good international relationships might be achieved. The special feature of this department is that we provide a balanced program of study in the three areas of international relations, communication, and comparative culture and area studies. This provides students with a balance of the knowledge and skills that they will need to be active on the global stage.
